Kbshimmer's Spring 2015 Collection Review & Nail Art

Press Samples

Hello darlings! Today I'm excited to share some of Kbshimmer's new spring 2015 collection. Today I have 9 shades to share with you to get you in the mood for spring and I know some of you can't wait to get rid of all the snow. So let's check out the 9 beauties I have to share with you. - One which I just noticed is MIA in the group photos...
First let's start out with the crellies.

First up is Wind Swarm.
Like the petals floating around on a blustery wind, Wind Swarm has a mix of purple, gold, white and pink glitters, while a hint of micro glitter offers a bit of sparkle to enjoy in the sun. Based on the Spring 2015 Pantone color, Aquamarine, Wind Swarm features a pale sky blue base. 3 Coats Recommended.

Wind Swarm is such a fun cute spring polish with it's red circles and squares. I like how there is so much going on yet it's not overly overwhelming, it flows together like the description a gust of wind full of spring time flowers.
Now we have I'm so Sweet Pea.
The palest of purples bases set off an explosion of glitters in pink, mint, purple and turquoise. Best layered in 2-3 coats.

When I see this polish I think of spring time, sweet peas, flowers, and lotions(the smell). I love the turquoise and purple glitters in this polish the most. And since it was a light and sweet polish, I thought of flowers and the smell of sweet pea's so decided to try to do a stamp with it. Not 100% happy with the white polish I used, it didn't want to clean up but over all I kinda like, sorta, but I do like how I'm So Sweet Pea looks veiled in white.
Next up we have Funky Cold Panita.
Like a long forgotten copper statue turned blue green in color, this polish features a cool turquoise green base, with pops of metallic copper, blue and purple. 3 Coats Recommended.

This screams winter is over, even if it's not really yet. This is a bold polish, perfect for that accent nail or that pop of colors for that nail design. I chose to use some of Kbshimmer's spring nail vinyls to create that type of look I'm talking about.
Aren't these vinyls amazing? And Funky Cold Panita is that perfect pop for these nail vinyls. These spring nail vinyls are perfect for spring, with the flowers, bunnies, eggs, flowers and more.
Next up we have Meow or Never.
When winter is almost over, and spring is near, I crave the warmth of newborn kittens, enjoy the last days of wool sweaters, and foggy, overcast mornings. Based on the Pantone spring color Glacier Gray , this polish is a very pale gray, almost white in color with pops of purple, gray, periwinkle and sky blue. 3 Coats Recommended.

Meow or Never has to be my favorite out of the crellies. I love the hints of gray in this and all the purples and blues, it's such a cute polish and the name is cute to boot. With a name like Meow or Never I had to get in touch with my cat lady self and add some kitty cats to these nails.
For the last of the crellies we have Cool Hand Cuke.
This pale minty green polish is loaded with pastel glitters in circles, triangles, stars and hexes. A touch of holographic sparkle completes this pastel polish. 3 Coats Recommended.

This polish for me reminds me of Saved By the Bell, does it not? Am I crazy? I love it! It reminds me of spring break, warm weather, and school. I love all that is going on in this polish.
Now onto the holo polishes, let's begin with Blush Money.
Based on the 2015 Pantone Color, Strawberry Ice, this this peachy rose colored polish shows off gold shimmer indoors, while outside, a linear holographic rainbow shines. Best in 2-3 coats.

Blush Money had to be the shyest one to capture. It has this golden holo feel to it that it's just like a blush, it creeps up on you.
Next we have Thistle Be the Day.
A as child, picking wild flowers was a coveted pastime, until the dreaded thistle lured us in with its deceptive beauty. A pale pinkish purple, this thistle inspired polish is all beauty and no tricks as it shines in the sun with a linear holographic rainbow. Even indoors, this ultra-holo polish shows off the best spring has to offer. 2 coats recommended.

Isn't this a signature spring color with that beautiful Kbshimmer Holo?!
Next up we have Blue-d Lines.
When the air turns warm, and there is not a cloud to be seen, the sky is always the most beautiful color aquamarine. This ultra-holo polish is inspired by those perfect days. Pale blue in color, this cool toned polish shines with linear holographic sparkle. Best in 2 coats.

Oh Blue-d Lines, how I love this color! It leaves me drooling.
Last of the beauties that I have is Ins And Sprouts.
Like a new bud popping through the soil, this pale green citron colored polish is alive with linear holographic shine. This ultra-holo polish is best is 2 coats.

I'm really liking In and Sprouts, I find it's my favorite out of the group of holos and I think it's because I don't actually have any green holos and this is gorgeous. I just had to stamp over this and rock this color longer.
So over all I really like this collection, it's so cute and sweet and it makes me so ready for spring! Formula wise Kbshimmer always knocks it out of the park for me and like always I topped all the polishes with Kbshimmer's Clearly On Top topcoat. There are 3 others in this collection that I'm going to purchase 2 more crellies and a beautiful white creme.

These are available now and can be purchased on Kbshimmer's site.

The crellies and holos retail for $8.75, the creme retails for $7.50 and the nail vinyl sheets retail for $5.00.

So make sure to check out these polishes and let me know what you think. Do these scream spring? Are there any you need to add to you list? Let me know.

Also make sure to check out Kbshimmer on social media.

A Look at Opi's DS Lapis

Hi dolls, let me start out by saying my whole house is sick and it all started with my youngest and found it's way to me. So with that said today is going to be a simple and sweet post before I take my sick self back to the safety of my bed.

Recently I've been going through my unused stash and I came across Opi's Lapis, which is apart of the Designer Series from last years release and I am smacking myself for not using it sooner after I bought it.

This DS dries matte with a bit of a satin finish and to me it's stunning.
The formula was awesome, I used 2 coats.
Next with top coat.
Did your jaw drop like mine?

Like I said simple and sweet so what are your thoughts on Opi's Lapis? Do you have any must have Opi Designer Series polishes that I have to have? Also have you ever been surprised by one of your unused polishes? Let me know.

Stay warm and healthy!!!

Getting Ready with Me featuring Black Up Cosmetics

Press Samples

Hello Dolls The Beauty Council is coming to you with another great collaboration. Today's collaboration is featuring Black Up Cosmetics. So today I want you to get ready with me.

So first things first if you are a women of color you need to look into Black Up Cosmetics and if you're not a women of color they still have something for you.

Founded in 1999 by an African makeup artist, black|Up Cosmetics is the first dedicated upscale beauty brand to magnify black and mixed beauties. black|Up develops a true expertise answering darker complexion’s specific needs and offers products that pair professional quality and pleasure of use: velvety effects, mat or powdery finishes, perfect coverage, ultra vibrant colors, 100% non-ashy finish... Thanks to its unique offer, black|Up has become a key player in the makeup world that seduces black and mixed women as much as all the makeup addicts of the planet.

This brand for me has to be sent from above because I'm mixed with Black and Asian so that has left me with a Yellow undertone and unforchantanly a lot of mainstream companies don't cater to darker complexions and some are now realizing that we have undertones. It's sad to believe that I am what some brands carry in their darkest shade and then sometimes even I am too dark so when I heard of Black up Cosmetics I was really intrigued and curious to see if they could give me what I needed to give me back my confidence. So let's get ready...
So this is my face, I know it's bad, I've had ache what has felt like my whole life all 27 years but luckily it's slowly going away and it's left me with dry skin and scars so I try my best to find products that not only cover to help my skin. So first things first I washed moisturized and primed my face( we don't want any oils, dirt, and dry skin stuck under our makeup no no no and we want to make sure our makeup isn't going anywhere). Next, I grabbed Black Up's CC Cream in CC 03 and their Full Coverage Cream Foundation in HC07.
This stuff is amazing. I applied it with my stippling brush and not only did I get amazing full coverage but it didn't feel cakey or like I had anything on, it's so light yet heavy duty which as you can tell by the cheesy smile blew me alway.

Being one tone is scary I know so to fix that I tried my hand at contouring my face with Black Up's Contouring Stick in N 02.
This 2 headed stick is so creamy and so easily blend-able that I was able to use it with no problem.

Now if there is one thing I've managed to learn about contouring is that everyone's face is different so everyone's highlight and contour is not going to be in the same place. So it's about finding what you want to highlight and what you want to add depth to.
For me it's all about the nose and the cheeks. So I added some of Black Up's Poudre Sublime in 02. A gorgeous bronzer that is simply drool worthy.
It is so fine and so pigmented that it added that perfect glow.
Now for the eyes, for my eye's I used Black Up's eyeshadow palette in PAL03, which comes with 5 gorgeous colors.
In this palette it comes with 2 metallic shadows, a sparkly, and 2 mattes to easily go from day eyes to night.
So for the eye's I chose to do a simple semi- smokey look.
1. I used the 2 matte shades, the lightest as my all over base and the darkest in the outer corner and crease of my eye to create depth.
2. I added the metallic green all over my lid.
3. Then I used the metallic brown in my whole crease and lightly blended them all together.
4. Finally I added the sparkly light green to the middle of my lid and to the bottom of my inner lids to add a bit of sparkly fun.

Simple as that and you have a simple yet colorful semi-smokey eye.

Now for the lips, since I did a semi- smokey eye I wanted something a bit vampy so I chose to use Black Up's Lipstick in RGE31 a matte red.
This is a gorgeous deep red matte lipstick that has found it's way into my weekly routine.

So are you ready for the final look?

Yep from drab to fab in 6 simple steps!

I must say I am simple blown away by Black Up Cosmetics. It was always been a struggle to find products that match my complexion without having to mix a bunch of colors and not only that but let me shine right along with it without making me look dry, cakey and/ completely self conscience about less than perfect skin.  For the first time in a long time I can say I feel beautiful on the outside too. Thanks you Black Up Cosmetics.

If you are a women of color I highly recommend trying Black Up Cosmetics face products 100% and if you aren't a women of color I highly recommend trying Black Up Cosmetics other products like their lipsticks and eye shadows! There is a little something for everyone, Black Up Cosmetics also offers skincare products that if they are anything like their makeup products I'm sure they hit it out of the park.

Get Valentine's Day Ready Lush Style with The Beauty Council Edition

Press Samples

With love in the air and Valentine's Day right around the corner today The Beauty Council has some Lush Cosmetics items to help you get Valentine's Day ready. Whether your planning a night out on the town with your guy or your girls or you plan on staying in like this mommy of 2, it's always a good idea to pamper yourself and Lush makes it easy.

Today I'm sharing with you 2 items from Lush's Valentine's day collection; Unicorn Horn and Floating Flower.

First up is Unicorn Horn.

"Sweet dreams are made of these

Sink into a magical bath filled with beautiful essential oils, colorful candy stars, sparkling glitter, rainbows and dreams. Gorgeous pastel colors and a shimmering luster create enchanting pink waters with silvery trails sparkling through it – just like the dazzling pools in magical forests that unicorns can be found bathing in. Lavender, ylang ylang and neroli create a unique and uplifting fragrance as you surround yourself with mounds of bubbles that will leave you feeling perfectly serene."

Unicorn Horn is a gorgeous looking bubble bar that didn't disappoint. I loved the way it looks it almost broke my heart to have to use it(almost). If you haven't heard of bubble bars before they are simply put bubble bath in a bar form. All you have to do is take it and crumble it up under your running water and depending how much water pressure you have is how much bubbles you end up with.
My bathroom doesn't have the best water pressure and I had an amazing amount of bubbles. This bubble bar smells divine, the smell wasn't an intense as some of Lush's items but the lavender and ylang ylang was still sweetly strong. I loved how it gave my water a light purple tint and there was shimmer! This bubble bar took me away to a far away place.

Next we have Floating Flower.

"Flowers on the water

Relax, it’s nearly Valentine’s Day and this flower is sure to please! Gently place this multi-layered Bath Bomb in the water and watch as it floats and slowly fizzes away, releasing a sensual jasmine fragrance. Its vivid, colorful layers create a bouquet of pink, orange and green froth on the water, so get in and soak up all its goodness, and leave the tub feeling relaxed and smelling irresistible."

This bath bomb was seriously made for me. I can't tell you how much I love the smell of jasmine and for me this is the bath bomb I plan on stocking up on. My skin felt amazing in and after this bath and it was so relaxing. If you like the smell of jasmine this is a bath bomb you have to try. And if you haven't tried a bath bomb it's simple you just toss it in you bath and watch it do all the work. I like to add mine after I put in a it of bubble bar that way I have some bubbles.
After this bath you'll have the best smelling bathroom on the block or at least you'll be relaxed enough not to care.

Unicorn Horn bubble bar retails for $7.95 and Floating Flower Retails for $6.95. These both can be purchased at Lush stores or online.  These are limited edition so get them before you miss you.

Now that we are relaxed and semi pampered getting ready for the days events will be a piece of cake. So no matter what your places are or what you're going this Valentine's Day take some time to pamper yourself and unwind, because for this mother of 2 those 20 minutes are a lot better in my mind than my weight in chocolate.

This Valentine's Day I plan to bake cookies with my sons and watch cartoon's with my husband all the while checking last minute details for my younger son's 1st birthday.

Looking for a nail design to try for Valentines Day? Check out these for inspiration.

Simple Stamping on red polish.
